Rides on the Central Coast of California.

Should you ever find yourself in, or near, San Luis Obispo; there are many great rides.  By rides I mean
primarily by motorcycle; but all can be done on a bicycle or your car. Of course the fun is on a bike!
On just about any road you will find some great twisties.   An RV or a car will still give you wonderful views and many places to sit and have a picnic or just enjoy the vistas.

Above is not a ride with twisties; although getting there can be fun.  Ride or drive on Pismo Beach.
If you come from San Luis Obispo, take Perfumo Canyon. Great run with some decent sweepers.
Once on the beach, well its a beach, what can I say?  If you have a 4x4, air down and take a run at the
dunes.  But don't get stuck in the sand!  Should you need a tow truck it will cost big bucks!

Getting back to San Luis Obispo  go up to Arroyo Grande and follow the road to Orcutt Road.
Here again some good twesties, but mind the speed limit not only oncoming traffic; you will encouter  CHP or Sheriff patrol cars.   Slow down and visit the winneries alone the way.
Here is an older video of a great road, albeit somewhat short, a fun road nevertheless - Turi Road.  Be careful it can be a killer.  Enjoy the "S" curves and the high speed sweepers; but be aware each summer somebody buys the farm.

There are many fine eating establishments to be found in San Luis Obispo; but if you are looking for a absolutly great sandwhich to take and have a picnic alone the way, you can't beat GUS'S, located just south of downtown on Santa Barbara St.

Even a mini bike is a blast on Turri  Road.  Here is some of the scenrey.

San Luis Obispo County is rife with great roads to ride/drive.  One for instance is the loop out of downtown SLO to Morro Bay.  Go North on highway 101 and exit in Paso Robles at highway 46 and go
West towards Morro Bay.  This will take you up and over the mountains and offer great views.  Once
you reach Highway 1, just south of Cambria you can continue to go South to Morro Bay; or perhaps go
North into Cambria.  Quant town and only a few minutes north.  If you do pop into  Cambria, be sure to stop at LINN'S BAKERY  for some homemade
Olallieberry  pie ala mode!   Continue South and you will drive through Cayucus and into Morro Bay.

If you are interested in a Mexican Lunch, try LOLOS.  You will find it off of Highway 1 in Morro Bay.

After lunch, continue down to Morro Rock and  walk the many shops at the Embaradaro.

As you stroll the walking path down by the "Rock" be sure to look for the Sea Otters.  They are very entertaining.   You might sight a seal as well.

This is part ONE, next time perhaps we can ride Santa Rosa Creek Road or out to Montana de Oro.  Perhaps both!
